Front Entry...aka "Sitting Room", revisited...
Last week I showed you new photos of my favorite room...the Great Room. You can see that post HERE.
While I took those pictures...I took new pictures of our Entry/Sitting Room too...
We actually use this room a lot. It's the perfect spot to relax and enjoy your morning coffee.
You might recognize my "HOME made" rug. You can see that post HERE.
Do you remember my entry bench made from a industrial "materials" rack? It was one of my favorite "finds" from the Country Junk Sale last fall...you can see that post HERE.
This is the "Entry" portion of the room...as I am typing this, I am realizing how much better that closet turned pantry would look with burlap type curtain hanging there instead of those bi-fold doors. To be continued :)
And still one of my all time favorite posts...this chippy flower basket turned light fixture. You can re-visit that HERE.
Did I ever show you the "baby gates" my husband made when my son was little? These steps lead down to the family room. And can be a tempting spot to take a "bumpy" ride on your push car...both kids tried it. Thankfully only bumps and bruised :(
Just some scrap wood, bead board and hardware did the trick. I haven't had the heart to take them down yet...
...besides, they fold up right to the wall and out of the way. They still come in very handy for little visitors :)
This old ice chest holds many a kid games and toys.
And a couple of other favorite posts...
And last but not least...I love to play around with the vintage treasures in these little cubby shelves. I asked my hubby to add them when he was framing in the archway when building the addition. I think it adds a little extra charm.
Wow, thanks for taking this little walk down "Memory Lane" with me! It's always fun to peek back. And since many of those posts were some of my "firsts"...there may be some of you that are seeing them for the first time?? Hope so :)
Have a great rest of your week!!

Room by Room...Our Front Entry...
Hello out there...
Since I haven't had much project time lately, I thought maybe I'd invite you in for a little peek at my home. I don't know about you but I love home tours and I've had so much fun surfing around through some of the tours in Blogland lately. And so I thought maybe I'd give you the "50 Cent Tour", as my dad calls it...one room at a time...

I figured the front entry was the logical place to start...welcome :)
(You might remember my chippy little light fixture or my junky Spring wreath from previous posts.)
A while back we converted our entry closet into a pantry. We have a small kitchen with minimal storage and this was a closet that basically stored unworn coats...so the coats went to the Goodwill and up went the shelves...sorry no pictures of the pantry...it's pretty full and "less than" organized right now.
This cute little chippy hook works slick for jackets when company comes...
...but usually it just holds my reusable bags in plain sight to I won't forget them on the way out to the grocery store. (And sometimes it even works...haha)
This is little room is also referred to as the "sitting area"...my hubby and I spend many Saturday mornings here sipping on our coffee and chatting about whatever. We just added those propped up glass doors to either side of the windows...and I love it. Just gives the space a little more character, don't you think? Too bad we stored them in the garage for 3 years before finally painting them up huh?
The end tables hold special little collected things...this is a photo of my maternal grandparents...
...and these are my paternal grandparents. These are the little details that make me "happy" :)
This is a simple little table I made by adding legs to an old metal grate. Easy...
Just a few more treasures.
I LOVE to layer...can you tell??? ;)
You might remember a few of these goodies from past posts too...like the hinge frames and table leg sconces.
This opening here used to be a window before we added on a lower level garage and "Great Room" back in 2001. We included these built in shelves for a little "interest".
That will lead us into the living room...and we'll save that room for another day. Hmmm...maybe if I plan this right I can spread out this little "tour" for the rest of the summer??? ;)
Thanks for stopping by!

HOME Made Rug
So I've had a boring green rug in my "sitting room" for-EVER...I am planning on painting my whole main level so I don't want to invest in an expensive rug until I settle on a color. But I couldn't take the green rug any longer.
So the other day I was at IKEA and I found this inexpensive rug and decided it would work for now. Well, as you can see...boring...but still better than "greenie".
(Sorry I didn't even take a picture of the other rug...I couldn't wait to roll it up and get it out! Bye, bye :)
So I decided since it was cheap, why not play a little. Enter stencils...
Some handy tape...
Fabric paint...black + white = the grey I was looking for.
At this point I'm a little nervous...I knew it would be hard to paint evenly because of those ribs...so I tried to paint it patchy on purpose. Not sure I'm gonna like it...
This is how I protected it from my kiddos while drying...
Hmmm...I think it will be alright...not perfect but I'm not so into "perfect" anyway...and atleast $100 cheaper than the other rugs I was looking at.

What do you think?
Thanks for stopping by...have a great rest of your week!
Here's where I'll be partying...
And here...
See you there!!!

A Wintery Welcome...
So the Christmas trees are packed away...and most of the decorations have disappeared until next year. But I can't resist leaving some greens and snow out for a little bit longer...
This ice chest is the first thing people see when they come in my front door, so it always gets a little special "sprucing".
I added insulators to the bottom of this vintage tray for a little extra height.
A "chippingly charming" old drawer with jars and candles.
A cloche I made using a glass fixture shade, a wooden canister lid and an old drawer pull.
And here's my favorite part...did you see this lamp base?
I got this cool old light fixture base from a friend for my birthday. (I love it...thanks Traci!) My lamp needed a little more height...and it just happened to have a hole in the bottom that fit perfectly over the fixture. Meant to be??? I think so.
So this is how it looked yesterday...I liked it but that big black lamp shade was bugging me.
So I stopped in to a thrift store today and look what I found. Lucky me :)
Much better...what do you think?
Don't you love it when things just fall together. It makes me so happy :)
I'll be linking up to...
And...
again at Whisperwood Cottage
Maybe I'll see you there...
Have a great week!
