License Plates and Crate Side...up the stairs...
I just realized that when I shared my Family Room redo the other day I forgot my favorite part...
...these license plates and crate sides going up the stairs.

The Family Room Redo...pipe shelves, arrows, streets signs and more :)
Hello friends, is anyone still following along?
I've been a bad blogger lately. Life is busy and I'm feeling led in other directions right now. Hope you understand...
I decided I should stop in and show you my family room redo. Its been "mostly done" for a while now. I've been "tweaking" here and there...and plan to tweak some more. Been there?
My husband made the pipe shelves...and I filled them up with fun finds, crates and tool boxes for storage.

Do you ever feel like you can't quite finish anything?
That's how I am feeling here...
I've started on my "Spring" sorting and cleaning...
The mantel is almost done...

Shoe Forms and Old Photos...a valance?
So I got this idea for valances in our family room a few months ago.
My husband helped me hang these shoe forms on the inside of the windows "like so".
We just happened to have an old curtain rod in the garage that fit into the holes in the form PERFECTLY, imagine that? It was even long enough to cut into 2 pieces, one for each window.
And then there they sat.
I tried many things hanging off of that rod...
1. Dish towels
2. Braided rugs
3. Burlap
4. Coffee sacks
5. Table runners
6. Brown Kraft paper
...and more
Nothing was quite right.
Then this weekend I was sorting through some old photos of my grandparents and inspiration hit.
Why not photos?
See the trouble with of the other options was that this room is already dark...and all of those other choices just closed of the space. This option keeps things a little lighter...and now I get to look at these special pictures everyday :)
Aren't they cute?
I love this one :)
It took me quite a while to notice the extra person sitting on the ground below them. Having fun with friends...I love to think of them that way!
I couldn't resist adding a little "junk" here...
...and there.
Window #1
And window #2
I think I like it...but I have a feeling these are going to be fun to "switch up". Greens for Christmas? Book pages with letters? We'll see :)

"Imitation is the Highest Form of Flattery"..."copy cat" junky storage...
"Imitation is the highest form of flattery"...as the oldest of 4 girls that's the quote my mom used to use whenever I started to get upset when one of my sisters would "copy" me. And I actually grew to believe it. Looks like the ladies over at Funky Junk Interiors and Miss Mustard Seed think so too. Can't wait to "join in on the fun" with their Copy Me Challenge.
So here goes...
Can you guess who I'm going to start with? Is that Coca Cola crate any indication??? Thought so...I'm kind of a "junk girl" myself, so it wasn't hard to find a few things right out in the garage.
Do you remember a while back when I told you how inspired I was by Donna's Blogging Office garage storage shelves? I wrote a post about how it inspired me to place a shelving unit I already had right smack infront of my windows...see photo below and you can see that post HERE
Well, it didn't only inspire me but my sweet hubby too. Usually I show my husband one of the inspiring posts from Blogland...he shuts down and I can literally see the stars in his eyes...but his mouth says "Yes, honey...that's cool honey" Only to completely erase it from his memory the next time I ask him about it. Been there???
Not so with those storage racks. Infact he called me from Home Depot a few days later and told me they had a bunch marked down to $7 each...and being the "conservative" shopper that I am, I said "Buy them all!" I recently put some of them to use and in light of the challange tried to "gussy" them up Funky Junk style...
These 2 are in our family room...I kept them the natural pine because I liked how they contrasted with the "Sheet Metal" gray walls and coordinated with the pine ceilings. Then I tried to fill them with some junky goodies that would make Donna proud :)
"Mason" jars for candles...
I added a license plate to this old box for fun...
Another old box with wording...
Old tool boxes galore for storage...I love the gray with red peeking through on this one.
This bowling pin angel might be more "Chipping with Charm" than "Funky Junk" but I wanted to show you anyway.
So what do ya think? Did I do OK???
Before you go, check out this quote...I found it over at Rosemary's beautiful blog, The Summer Porch and I LOVE it...the quote and the blog ;)
Now "hop" on over and check out all the other Funky Junk Copy Cats ok?
Whoo-hoo...this post made it to the "Top 5"...check it out HERE :)
Re-visiting this post to link up with Amy at Whisperwood Cottage for her Authentic Style Series featuring Donna and her funky and fabulous style...see you there!
And since these shelves were a "steal" at only $7 a piece, I'm going to link up to the Under $100 Link Party at Beyond the Picket Fence :)
