Glass Books?

So I've seen these glass blocks used in decorating before...

It just never occured to me how much the edge pieces look like books until I saw them sitting on the shelf at the thrift store.  Rounded edge..."binding".

...white "pages".

Nice and heavy...perfect for book ends.  Now I'm not sure how much they would sell for at a home project store...but at the thrift store they were marked $2.99 with an additional 50% off...so at $1.50, I figured it was a safe bet it was a "good deal" :)

I was originally thinking of stenciling some words to the "binding" side but decided I liked them better "as is".  Less distracting...simple and clean is sometimes better.  What do you think?

And would you have bought them???  My hubby thought I was a little crazy...but I think he just likes to tease me about my weird ideas :)
Hop over and see what other unique things people are finding over at...

Garage "Shopping"...

So, I'm still suffering with a case of "creative block"...so I decided to head out to the garage today to organize and look for some of that "Divine Inspiration" I mentioned in my last post...

I found a few treasures...

A wide range of garden fencing...

And a rather large assortment of "rusty treasures"...

...and chippy goodies...

And check out these layering "lovelies" :)

Still no "Ah-Haa Moments" but I definitely feel I have PLENTY to work with...so one of these days, I'll be back in junk re-purposing "business".  But until then,  I'll enjoy my "little bit" cleaner garage...and those sweet kiddos who occupy my summer days.  Thanks for sticking with me...

Tired...and uninspired...

Have you been there???  Summer is busy...sports camps, dance classes, vacation bible school...LIFE :)
Sadly, I haven't had much project time lately.  That said, I am doing a great bible study...Esther, by Beth Moore.  And I got an elliptical machine so I've started a more regular exercise routine...which was much needed. And with hot, hot temps here in MN, it's nice to have something I can do indoors!
So anyway...life is good but I miss my blogging friends...I promise, I'll be back soon.  Just waiting for some "Divine Inspiration" and a little "me time".  So until then...blessings to you my sweet friends!

Fun Wheely Thing...and a bad decision

So I went to the flea market last weekend...and it was a VERY good day :)

One of my favorite finds was this "wheely thing".  Fun huh?

So my first thought were these 8 skinny glass vases...all in a row...

And I didn't have any real flowers handy so I decided to use these shoe strecher flowers like I've showed you before HERE.

Then I added these old rusty drill bits for fun. But I didn't like those crusty flowers peeking in through the window behind...so I decided to "very carefully" move this photo shoot to another location.  And because I was too plain lazy to move the vases first and then come back for the wheely part later...here's where the "bad decision" part comes...

And as you can see that did NOT end well.

As they say "live and learn"...now I just have to think of another way to use my new find.  Any ideas???
