Let the Decorating Begin...a look back...

Well I "thought" I might start decorating for Christmas before Thanksgiving this year...but it didn't happen.  Time got away, but now I am MORE than ready :)
I decided to peek back at some past ideas for inspiration for this year.  Want to join me??

(Remember those SWEET LITTLE SKIS?)

Or this BIKE RIM WREATH?

This CLIPPY HANGER WREATH even made an "appearance" on my Christmas card last year...

I just clipped on a picture of my little "charmers", took a picture and had photo cards made :)

This was another simple idea...I called it "CHRISTMAS IN A CANISTER".

And this little guy got LOTS of attention...FISH BOWL "FROSTY".

And last but not least...my SPRINGY ANGELS.

Well that's a look back...can't wait to pull some of these ideas out again this year...but the REAL fun is coming up with new ideas using other odd things around my house.  Here we go :)

Hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving...think I need to start lugging some bins up and down the stairs to work off all that good food!!

A Tree of Gratitude...a new Thanksgiving tradition...

So we started a new Thanksgiving tradition at our house this year...

A Tree of Gratitude

The idea started with one of these trays with the tree-like shape in the middle.

You might remember them from a previous post...when I used them for a FAMILY TREE PHOTO HOLDER.

This time I used a leaf stamp and some old book pages to make some leaves.

I made enough leaves for each person in my family to write something they are thankful for each day leading up to Thanksgiving...starting the Sunday before.  This year we got started late so we did them all at once...but next year we will do them one at a time and then pray together thanking God for each blessing and then praying for those without.

The magnets are just made with little buttons...'cause buttons make everything cuter, right?

I had them write the year and their initial on the back of each leaf...we'll keep them from year to year and look back at all of our blessings...and someday this little drawer will be "overflowing with gratitude".

And of course you all made the "leaf" :)

I am so very thankful for each one of you and the support and encouragement you give me here on this little blog of mine. It has been such a blessing to me...
Life changing...REALLY...
Thank you!!

So as we celebrate Thanksgiving and head into the beautiful...but BUSY Christmas season, here is my prayer for you...
The Lord bless you and keep you!
The Lord let his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you!
The Lord look upon you kindly and give you peace!
Numbers 6:24-26
My dad is a retired minister and I can still hear his voice saying this at the end of each Sunday service while I was growing up...it gave me a boost and sense of excitement for the week ahead...and so I'll send you off with that today :)

Twine Wreath Ornament...left over jar lid rims repurposed...

This is a "busy project"...how do you feel about those?  Something that doesn't take much "crafty-ness"...just a plan and some time :)

Recently I made some centerpieces for a women's event at church...

...and I ended up with a couple dozen jar lids.  So I grabbed the rims and some twine...

...tied a knot...

...and started wrapping...

...finished it off with another knot, and tucked it in.

A little ribbon adds some extra detail...and covers the the knots.

A sweet little button, a "sparkly" little star and some skinny twine to hang it...and you've got yourself a sweet little ornament.

I bet many of you are busy, busy preparing their hearts and homes for Thanksgiving on Thursday.  I hope to stop back and show you a little Thanksgiving project we've been working on here...but it's not done yet.  We shall see...if I get it done I'll show you, other wise we'll have a head start for next year ;)

Christmas Signs...brought to you by the letter "O"...

Ready for another Christmas idea?

I guess this idea was sort of inspired by the "O Happy Day" wreath I made a while back for my daughter's room...

A couple of weeks ago I scooped up a bunch of these plastic sign letters..."O" what a find ;)

And grabbed my trusty stamps and white acrylic paint...

...then tried to think of all my favorite "O" Christmas songs.

They perch nicely on a metal hinge as an easel.

A little star ornament tied on with ribbon is the finishing touch.

And there you have it...Christmas idea #2 for 2012.
LOTS more to come...it's probably good I'm getting started early this year!!
