Basement Entry "Coat Room" Redo...hooks, lockers and signs...

The entry from the garage goes right in to the laundry room.  It is a dark and dreary place...so please excuse the "not so good pictures"...

Junkers Unite with a Junky Memo Station, a Pin Board and a Linky Party!

Chipping with Charm: Kraut cutter turned turned memo station...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

I am so very excited about all the things I get to share with you today!!
Chipping with Charm Blog...Laurel

If you are new here, my name is Laurel and I am a collector, decorator and "re-purposer".  As my profile says...I am on a mission to create a home that's "Chipping with Charm".

If you'd like to follow along with my "quirky" junk inspired ideas...you can find me here at Chipping with Charm as well as...

A while back Donna of Funky Junk Interiors gathered a group of some of my favorite "junkers" to pin to a new board she started called "Junkers United".  Today we wanted to introduce you to that amazing collection of our favorite junk ideas...and to do that we each came up with a new project to share with you to "kick" it off in Junk Style :)

So here's what I came up with...

A primitive kraut cutter turned junky memo station.

Did you recognize this?  I believe that box in the middle would hold the cabbage in place and the person would slide it side to side to slice it for kraut.  To me it looked like the perfect little shelf for a funky "Memo Station".

First, we screwed on this perfectly crusty hinge to hold the shelf in place.

Nice little spot for a few "necessities".

The background/blade is magnetic...the perfect spot to hold messages, photos...whatever.

Next we added some chippy little hardware "accessories".  Some functional...

...and some just for fun.

(That little magnet is a round piece of wood painted with chalkboard paint.  I used a chalk pen and little stamps to add the word...which could easily be changed based on "function".  In this case it holds a picture of my dad and most of his family...one baby brother yet to come.  My dad is the cutie on the far left.)

If you knew where this was going to "live" you could probably screw it right to your wall.  But since I like to move things around A LOT...we added this hinge to the back for hanging.

Works great!

So there it is living its "new life" at my house.  I just love the rustic wood with the aged metal.  It makes me HAPPY :)

The Bathroom...adding some "chippy" charm...

For Mother's Day my sweet husband did some painting in our "Master" bathroom.  We went from green to an "aqua-like" blue.  It wasn't exactly the color I thought it would be based on that little paint swatch...but I just decided to go with it.  A bright happy color might be fun for a change??
Rather that talk through all the little details I thought I would just show you the "before and after" and you can play a little game of "What's different?" :)

This was the last bit of green at our house....

Now I think the room coordinates better with the grays and neutrals of the rest of the house....

Of course lots of "chippy" touches.

I LOVE my new "towel holders".

And speaking of towels...

Are you a "match-y" towel person?
Not me...I like to mix and match colors and patterns.  I went with a black, white and grey scheme this time.

What do you think of my new foot hooks?

So that's it...
My tiny little "Master" bathroom.  Someday I dream of a claw foot tub and "spa-like" experience.  Then I remind myself I'm not really a fan of bathroom cleaning and I am thankful for what I have :)

Door Latch Arm...turned handy hook

I've been "saving" one more little idea from our "MASTER" BEDROOM...

We got this old perfectly rusty and crusty "door latch arm" off of an old barn we were allowed to salvage/pick from a few years ago.  I posted about it on Junk Market Style...if you would like to take a peek at the other goodies we grabbed, you can see more photos HERE.

Screwed to the wall...it's a great place to hang some pretties made by some of my favorite junk friends...

Scarves by Target anther "dear friend" :)

But dare I say...

...it usually looks more like this :)

Yep, looks much better like this :)

We've been out of town the last few weekends to I've missed out on the fun of the weekend parties :(
But we are enjoying the last couple of weeks of summer vacation :)
How about you??  Does it seem like things get crazy this time of year...squeezing in end of summer activities and adding in early fall activities??  Bitter-sweet...
