It took us ALL Summer...
But, I think I am finally ready to share my new kitchen and all its quirky details...
(If you would like to see an older post with more "Before" kitchen photos you and do so HERE)
Here we go...
Main Kitchen Area...
And AFTER...
I LOVE my new farm sink!
And old candy display rack for my oils and vinegars.
Minnow basket pendant lights.
Another angle...
AFTER...
We decided not to do traditional cupboards over the fridge this time. I opted for junky open egg crate shelves instead.
TONS more cupboard space.
We used yardsticks as trim and "accents" throughout.
This basket rack from HomeGoods works hard holding all of my fresh produce.
(Goodbye wall :))
And AFTER...
This is my favorite part.
Pickle jars turned light fixtures.
Crates for storage.
This old swing makes me smile :)
I lost my CRAZY Coffee Station...
And AFTER...
But I gained a new and improved "Mommy Central".
(Print purchased from Red Letter Words)
Another chalkboard wall.
I made an eraser out of an old sanding block and some black felt.
And metal drawers hold some photos of a few special kiddos.
Entry Area...
We rarely sat here.
This space just seemed to "gather" backpacks and mess.
But AFTER...
Now this area has become a little more functional.
We added picnic table for a homework/crafty space for the kids.
Now when it's time to eat they can just stop where they are and resume when we are done.
No more reminding them to clean off the table for supper.
Less stress for everyone :)
Cute little white cupboard to stash their stuff.
Feeling creative?
Doesn't everyone have a picnic table in their house?
A funky centerpiece in an old fryer basket.
I am so very happy with how it all came together. My talented husband worked long and hard to help make all of my decorating dreams and crazy ideas come true :)
There are still a couple more things that we want to do...a unique light fixture over the picnic table and a makeover of the closet by the front door...goodbye bi-fold doors. Those projects will have to wait while we do a few other projects that are more function that fun. Hopefully I will have more to share soon!
Here are a few of more details...
Kitchen cupboards...IKEA, White, Lindigo
Kitchen counter Tops...Corinthian Solid Surface, Coliseum
Walls...Colonial Cobblestone
Pedestal light fixture parts...Menards
Island cupboards...IKEA, Gray, Lindigo
Butcher block counter top...stained a light honey and a glossy poly.
Adjustable stools...Target, Threshold
Picnic table...Target

ReplyDeleteLaurel- I went back and forth several times from picture to picture. You did a marvelous job. I like that not only is it beautiful but it is also so functional for your family. That doesn't always happen. Sometimes people sacrifice functionality for beauty. You got both!!! It was certainly worth all your hard work and I know it took longer than you wanted ---but...man....it was SO worth it! xo Diana

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful kitchen, with such fun ideas. Everything is so unique and not like the "run" of the mill" that many are. We, too, had a picnic table in the kitchen when our 3 sons were young. Loved it, and love yours!!
