"Christmas in a Canister" revisited...is it a sign or a snow globe??

Chipping with Charm: Christmas in a Canister...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

I shared this idea a while back...maybe you remember it?

I called it Christmas in a Canister...for lack of a better name.  I can't really figure out what exactly it is...

...a glass flat sided canister, some snow and a rolled up piece of sheet music.

And of course a little embellishment...does that surprise you?  I like that the keys say "star"...did you notice?

This time I made some little "baby" ones too.

And then I brought them to our booth at Antiques Downtown.

So what do you think it is?  A sign?  A snow "canister"?  Not sure, but the last time I made them (for a different shop) they sold out fast...we'll see :)

Pretty Paper Posies...

So I think I have a problem...ever since I started on those paper projects for Flea Market Under Glass, I just can't stop myself.  Maybe because it's not quite "real flower" time yet here in MN.

But here is another little idea I've been playing around with...

I started out with a bunch of these drapery hooks...sorry for the fuzzy photo...must be that crazy shine.  Yep, that had to go :)

First I removed the "Goldlicious" hardware...

Then a little primer...

And next a some Dark Bronze spray paint.

Ahhh, much better.

Then I went to town making the pretty little posies...both sheet music and recycled brown kraft paper.
I used this tutorial that a friend had shared with me...The DIY Dish.  (To make the flowers bigger I traced the top of a teacup.)  I also used this tutorial to make the XL center roses on my Wreath with a Twist...but for that one I traced a dinner plate.  So fun to play isn't it? ;)

A few dots of hot glue and Ta-da!
I made a whole mess of them to sell, to decorate with and to tie on as gifts for friends :)

Easily clipped on here and there and everywhere I need a little "Spring".

While I was at it, I added some to the tops of these thrift store canisters...more fun :)

So I have I bored you yet with my paper flower addiction?  Hope not, because there's more!  To be continued...;)

The Popular "Paper Wreath"...with a "Twist"

Hello friends, I've been out of the loop for a week or so because of the Flea Market Under Glass Event...which in "Blog Land" appears to be a LONG time! I'm not sure if I'll ever catch up with all that you very busy and creative people have been up to!!!

I gave you a "Little Peek" at this wreath last week before the show...and I thought I would share a few more details this week...

When chatting with Sue about what types of items she was looking for for her space, she specifically requested these recycled magazine flowers...

And I found this very helpful tutorial here...Alamode Stuff Blog.  It was very clear and helpful...thanks!!!  (I however only did 5 petals instead of the 6 in the video example.)

One of the other items Sue had mentioned was sheet music wreaths...which got me thinking...why not switch it up a bit and try recycled magazines??? So here's what I came up with...
First I did a search on the good old internet for "Sheet Music Wreath"...which as you can imagine, I had an assortment to choose from.  I ended up using this one at Primp.  Another very helpful "How to" :)

At first I decided to try all "greens" in my magazine pages...you know like a "real" wreath...

And I ripped and rolled...

And hot glued...

And layered and hot glued some more...

I wasn't really thrilled with the "all green" look so I went back to my magazines and looked for an assortment of brightly colored pages and added a second smaller layer to the middle.

Then I wasn't thrilled about the unfinished looking middle...and that's when I got the idea of adding the brown kraft paper rosette....which I LOVED!  Yes, I did the happy dance, you know...you've all been there right???

So there ya have it...my version of the Paper Wreath...

And since I was at it, I decided to try one with sheet music and book pages too.  I used full sheets of music, so this one was huge!

I strategically placed the book pages to the front so the chapter numbers would show...just for fun :)
This one sold on Saturday at the show to a very nice couple.  And they were thrilled, which made my day!!!

Have you tried a paper wreath yet?  If so, would you do it again?  (They are time consuming aren't they???)  And did you add any unique "twists"?  Just curious...

Hope everyone is have a good week...I hope to catch up with my blog reading soon!!!  See you then :)

"Springy" Flowers

So I've been dreaming of Spring...but here in MN, we've been forced to wait. So I started playing, hoping that these cute little springy flowers will tide me over...at least for today. We'll get through tomorrow, tomorrow...

So I started out with these...what are they anyway? I've heard yolk separator and also minnow catchers. Hmmm, pretty sure I won't be using them for my eggs...just in case...

I actually liked them just like this, in a vase...but I've been seeing so many cute ideas out there in Blog land for paper flowers and decided to come up with my own version, so here goes...

You could use any kind of paper for these...scrapbooking scraps, magazine pages...whatever suits you. The options are endless really. But I decided to stick with the book pages and sheet music, since I'm going pretty neutral these days.

I used these little pre-cut craft store flowers for a tracing template since I had them on hand...but the designs are pretty simple, I'm sure you could freehand it or cookie cutters would work great too.

Ready to go...

Then I just tucked a couple into each springy thingy...easy, easy!
I kind of moved them around until I found a good tight fit but a little glue dot would probably hold them in place even better.

And there they are...I think I need one more, just because...and I'm guessing I have one stashed somewhere??? Hmmm, should I check with the utensils or the fishing gear???

Either way, I'll be ready when I find one :)

Cozy in their new home...and in case you are wondering...yes, I have a thing for making flowers out of odd objects...Shoe Stretchers, forks whatever...as long as they don't need water.

Happy Wednesday!

I'll be linking this up to...

PS...this post was an iJunk Spotlight over at Junkologie...whoo-hoo, Thanks Amy!  Stop over and say hi :)
