Have I mentioned it's cold here?
(Actually, it is MUCH better this week!!)
I don't mind...it's a great excuse to "cozy" up at home.
You may know that I have a little trouble "keeping it simple" when it comes to my mantel. But that is the "theme" I am going with this time around.
I bought this old chippy door at the Country Junk Sale this fall.
It already had a crusty handle...perfect for a scarf bow.
I have been admiring all of those fun little metal trucks out there...and I found a chippy white one that was "meant for me".
These blue jars and canvases turned chalkboards keep reappearing on my mantel...
I bought the "cable knit" vases on clearance at Target last winter.
I don't have too many auctions on the calendar this winter...but it just seemed to "fit".
This metal foot board was another Country Junk score.
You might recognize this chalkboard easel tree from the top of my Christmas "tree" mantel too. That metal snowflake was a gift my my husband and kids.
(They bought it from another booth at Antiques Downtown.)
I was planning on hanging the tin bunting I used outside in my FALL JUNK VIGNETTE...but I couldn't find it. I'm thinking it must be hiding under all that snow??
So I came up with this hinge bunting instead.
I just tied 3 hinges together with twine...
...added some embellishments. Locks, keys...
...and button magnets with a winter "message".
I added this aqua ladder at Christmas time. It is still VERY handy for keeping those comfy blankets close.
I couldn't resist adding a little stacked junk "snow person".
There you go, my "simply cozy" winter mantel.
