...so glad it finally came to life for our "Little Man"!
Like usual, I had the vision in my head and smarty pants husband put it all together. I think he re-visited his college dorm days for the sturdy design.
We used old metal barn tin to cover up the underside of the mattress.
This ladder from an old corn silo was attached to the wall...and sent up the "awesome" meter in our son's eyes :)
Or this METAL LADDER HOOK RACK?
A "grouping" of special things...
The dresser and the boat were in my husband's room as a boy. That crate caught my eye because my grandfather's name was Harold.
We also did a chalkboard surface on the little bit of wall around all the doors.
We weren't really going for a "Star Wars" theme...but since he's a big fan and has LOTS of Star Wars collections...we "went with it".
The 2 things he requested for his new room...a lava lamp and a bean bag chair.
DONE.
I've been calling this his "Little Man Cave"...but now I think he prefers "Jedi Cave". Either way...it's his :)
We have more ideas spinning in our heads. So I'm sure I'll be back to show you more in this room.
To be continued...
Update...
I case you were "concerned"...we have always had something attached to the side for his protection.
When I took the first photos we were using a piece of plywood attached with clamps. Not great for photos...but safe for kiddos.
This is the photo ready version of the "safety feature" :)

Laurel, the room is adorable in a very Jedi sort of way! My son would love that. The corn silo ladder is my favorite part. I may just have to go tear down a silo for one!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fabulous little Man Cave! You really rocked this project and this space! TFS...hugs...
ReplyDeleteTrying to catch up on all your posts! Love the Little Man Cave!! Such a great idea for the bed, and I totally agree with your son - the ladder is so awesome!! :)
ReplyDeleteIts really interesting and images of About Pallet Racks. are fabulous. The racks are helpful in making room more attractive and elegant.
ReplyDeleteLove the bed. Got the idea of using pallet racks for a loft bed in my son's robot room while at HD. Can you tell me if this is a twin bed and what size racks you used? I'm not real familiar with pallet racks and though I can find tons on Craigslist, I would like to have some idea of what I am looking for before I drive all the way across town (Houston, so basically a small state LOL). Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteJoey
Really fun for a robot room! These pallet rack uprights are 36" wide. Hope that helps :)
DeleteThat is an amazing room! Who would’ve thought that those pallet racks can be used to maximize a room? I can only imagine you son’s delight after he saw that in his room. All his stuff were simply put inside, and there’s still some room for the others. Cheers!
