HOME Made Rug

So I've had a boring green rug in my "sitting room" for-EVER...I am planning on painting my whole main level so I don't want to invest in an expensive rug until I settle on a color.  But I couldn't take the green rug any longer.

So the other day I was at IKEA and I found this inexpensive rug and decided it would work for now.  Well, as you can see...boring...but still better than "greenie".
(Sorry I didn't even take a picture of the other rug...I couldn't wait to roll it up and get it out!  Bye, bye :)

So I decided since it was cheap, why not play a little.  Enter stencils...

Some handy tape...

Fabric paint...black + white = the grey I was looking for.

At this point I'm a little nervous...I knew it would be hard to paint evenly because of those ribs...so I tried to paint it patchy on purpose.  Not sure I'm gonna like it...

This is how I protected it from my kiddos while drying...

Hmmm...I think it will be alright...not perfect but I'm not so into "perfect" anyway...and atleast $100 cheaper than the other rugs I was looking at.

What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by...have a great rest of your week!
Here's where I'll be partying...

And here...

See you there!!!

That looks great! I like stenciling on pillows and fabrics, a rug is a fantastic idea and makes it look very
    high end!
