Apple Basket Lid to Rustic Snowflake...let it snow...
You may have heard that Minnesota got a "little" snow yesterday. A little early for most considering our winter was so VERY long last year. I decided to make the most of it and finish up a project that has been in my head for a while...

Winter Mantel, 2014...simply COZY...
Have I mentioned it's cold here?
(Actually, it is MUCH better this week!!)
I don't mind...it's a great excuse to "cozy" up at home.
You may know that I have a little trouble "keeping it simple" when it comes to my mantel. But that is the "theme" I am going with this time around.
I bought this old chippy door at the Country Junk Sale this fall.
It already had a crusty handle...perfect for a scarf bow.
I have been admiring all of those fun little metal trucks out there...and I found a chippy white one that was "meant for me".
These blue jars and canvases turned chalkboards keep reappearing on my mantel...
I bought the "cable knit" vases on clearance at Target last winter.
I don't have too many auctions on the calendar this winter...but it just seemed to "fit".
This metal foot board was another Country Junk score.
You might recognize this chalkboard easel tree from the top of my Christmas "tree" mantel too. That metal snowflake was a gift my my husband and kids.
(They bought it from another booth at Antiques Downtown.)
I was planning on hanging the tin bunting I used outside in my FALL JUNK VIGNETTE...but I couldn't find it. I'm thinking it must be hiding under all that snow??
So I came up with this hinge bunting instead.
I just tied 3 hinges together with twine...
...added some embellishments. Locks, keys...
...and button magnets with a winter "message".
I added this aqua ladder at Christmas time. It is still VERY handy for keeping those comfy blankets close.
I couldn't resist adding a little stacked junk "snow person".
There you go, my "simply cozy" winter mantel.

Snowy Scene Lantern...light fixture re-purpose
Here's another "snow globe" type lantern idea.
You might remember the BALL JAR LANTERN I shared a couple of weeks ago.
I just happened to have another broken lantern in my "stash"...
I started by taking this chippy metal lantern apart and cleaning it up.
I painted the back panel with chalkboard paint and added a picture of my "snow babies".
That globe is just a clean glass ornament flipped upside down in the empty socket.
Of course some greens and embellishments.
You know me :)
This one is hanging right outside my front door.
They look pretty happy there don't they?

Well, I just realized how many projects left I have to show you...and how little time I have left before Christmas.
You might see me more often this next week.
What happened to all that time?

Canning Jar Snowman...or Snowladies
Do you remember my snowman made from fish bowls?
It's one of my most "popular" Christmas posts from a couple of years ago. You can visit "him" HERE.
This year I decided to make a little "mini" version for our booth at Antiques Downtown.
I started with assorted canning jars...this is "Mason". Filled them part way with fake snow...
...and a little heart ornament.
Then I filled a clear glass ornament with a little more snow and glued it on with Amazing Goop glue.
When that dried, I glued on a silver sugar bowl lid for a hat.
Then I added some burlap ribbon scarves and sparkly accessories.
Meet Snow"Ball".
And "Presto"...she feels kind of "fancy" with her tree pin.
"Mason" had a little "accident"...so he stayed here with me for a little extra TLC.
The other 2 went to our booth...
...along with their bigger brother "Atlas".
I will be linking my new friends up the the Junkers United Christmas Link Party which is still going on. Stop back often to link up all of your Christmas junk...and peek around.
The "Junkers United" team will continue to pin from the party to Funky Junk Donna's Junker's United Christmas Pin Board.

More "Snow"...winter paper garland and more decor....
In my last post I showed you the "forests" that started popping up at my house after the Christmas decor was packed away...
More of that post HERE.
Well, it's still "snowing" here :)
Do you remember the hutch my husband made me with windows we purchased on our honeymoon? (Read the story HERE...it was one of my first posts ever!!)
It's always a fun place to do a great big "focal" display :)
A collection of old mirrors and rusty finds. Those big snowflakes are actually a table runner I bought a few years ago. It's made the "rounds" at my house...but never on my table ;)
These old jack stands make fun "tree-like" ornament holders...don't you think? And "unexpected" addition to an otherwise "frilly" display...just the way I like it :)
The garland is just old book pages with snowflakes stamped out in different sizes. But the "hooks" holding the twine is the BEST part...
I found 2 of these old chippy latches at and antique store...it was "love at first sight" :)
One on each side of my also chippy screen...and there you go.
And there's that fun sign my friend Joan (Signs of the Times) made for me...still love it!!
Hope everyone has a great week!!
