I love all the fun chalkboard art out there...but unfortunately I was not "gifted" with chalk =board skills...so I grabbed some cool stencils and faked it...

Happy Spring...in need of a little JOY?

Chipping with Charm: Jump for Joy Mantel...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/
Hello friends, I just stopped in to say "Happy Spring".
And I don't know about you, but I am "Jumping for Joy"!  Not that it actually FEELS like Spring here in Minnesota...but I have HOPE that it is coming :)

I seem to be taking a little "Blog-cation" lately...not by choice.  For some reason I am feeling a little uninspired these days.  My sweet husband reminded me that I go through this every year about this time.  I decided to take the pressure off and rest a bit.  I'll be back when I have something to share.
Thanks for understanding!!

Until then,

Winter Mantel, 2014...simply COZY...

Chipping with Charm: Simply Cozy Winter Mantel, 2014...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

Have I mentioned it's cold here?
(Actually, it is MUCH better this week!!)

I don't mind...it's a great excuse to "cozy" up at home.

Chipping with Charm: Simply Cozy Winter Mantel, 2014...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

You may know that I have a little trouble "keeping it simple" when it comes to my mantel.  But that is the "theme" I am going with this time around.

Chipping with Charm: Simply Cozy Winter Mantel, 2014...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

I bought this old chippy door at the Country Junk Sale this fall.

Chipping with Charm: Simply Cozy Winter Mantel, 2014...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

It already had a crusty handle...perfect for a scarf bow.

Chipping with Charm: Simply Cozy Winter Mantel, 2014...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

I have been admiring all of those fun little metal trucks out there...and I found a chippy white one that was "meant for me".

Chipping with Charm: Simply Cozy Winter Mantel, 2014...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

These blue jars and canvases turned chalkboards keep reappearing on my mantel...

Chipping with Charm: Simply Cozy Winter Mantel, 2014...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

I bought the "cable knit" vases on clearance at Target last winter.

Chipping with Charm: Simply Cozy Winter Mantel, 2014...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

I don't have too many auctions on the calendar this winter...but it just seemed to "fit".

Chipping with Charm: Hinge Bunting...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

This metal foot board was another Country Junk score.

Chipping with Charm: Chalkboard Easel "Tree"...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

You might recognize this chalkboard easel tree from the top of my Christmas "tree" mantel too.  That metal snowflake was a gift my my husband and kids.
(They bought it from another booth at Antiques Downtown.)

Chipping with Charm: Hinge Bunting...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

I was planning on hanging the tin bunting I used outside in my FALL JUNK VIGNETTE...but I couldn't find it.  I'm thinking it must be hiding under all that snow??

Chipping with Charm: Hinge Bunting...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

So I came up with this hinge bunting instead.

I just tied 3 hinges together with twine...

Chipping with Charm: Hinge Bunting...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

...added some embellishments.  Locks, keys...

Chipping with Charm: Hinge Bunting...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

...and button magnets with a winter "message".

Chipping with Charm: Aqua Ladder for Blankets...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

I added this aqua ladder at Christmas time.  It is still VERY handy for keeping those comfy blankets close.

Chipping with Charm: Stacked junk Snow Person...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

I couldn't resist adding a little stacked junk "snow person".

Nativity Silhouette...ice chest Christmas vignette...

Chipping with Charm: Rustic "Tree" Christmas Mantel...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

The other day I shared our RUSTIC "TREE" CHRISTMAS MANTEL.

The other place I enjoy giving an "extra" touch is the the top of the antique ice chest.

Chipping with Charm:Nativity Silhouette Christmas Vignette...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

This year, I used a vintage wood nativity silhouette from the thrift store...painted white.

The "chalkboard" stable is actually the top of a child sized table.  It hasn't seen its legs in months.

The atlas was from the .15 cent bin at the Goodwill.

My favorite rustic aqua box...from HomeGoods a while back.

And lots of glass and little trees...of course.

I think I'm finally ready to pack up the decorating piles and move on to the gifts and wrapping here.  But I still have more to show you.  Are you sick of me yet?

Rustic "Tree" Mantel...Christmas 2013

Chipping with Charm: Rustic "Tree" Mantel...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

If you've been following my posts this Christmas, you might have noticed a bit of a "tree theme" going on here.

Chipping with Charm: Stacked Bench Tree...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

Chipping with Charm: Crate Tree...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

And my CRATE TREE?

Chipping with Charm: Rustic "Tree" Mantel...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

Do you see the tree in my mantel?

Easel top with a star...

...chalkboard branches?

The lights "highlight" the tree shape.

Do you like my tin "garland"?

Chipping with Charm: Large Barn Tin Star...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

My husband cut out a bunch of stars from barn tin for our booth at ANTIQUES DOWNTOWN.  Of course I kept a few.  There are big ones...

...and smaller ones.

Chipping with Charm: Rustic "Tree" Mantel...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

What do you think?  Can you see the "tree"?

Important safety note:
My husband informed me that the scarf might not be "safe" draped there in front of the fireplace...so it has been removed...sniff, sniff.  Some times I get carried away when "styling"...but nothing looks "cute" in a fire...unless its sweet, white and on a stick. Right??
