"Fussy" Christmas Mantle

Chipping wityh Charm...Fussy Christmas Mantel 2012...http://chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

I admit it...I have a problem...I'm a "fussy" decorator.  I just can't leave well enough alone.  I fuss and fuss until I've wasted 2 days on one area!

Here's how my fireplace looked yesterday...

"Good enough" but...

Then I remembered these little numbered "whatchamacallit's" I got at Haupt Antiek last week.  I decided a garland would be nice...

No hooks?  That's ok...a couple of rusty goodies will do the trick here...

And here.

And then I thought the sock stretcher "thingy" could use a little "Love".

And here's how it looks today.  Too much?  Oh well...it's Christmas!!!  I'll work on "simplifying" my decorating the rest of the year :)

Here's a peek at a few of the other "fussy" details...

Bed spring tree toppers...I "borrowed" this idea from my friend Traci...cute right?

A fish bowl full of styrofoam "snowballs" and a little "joy".

And yet another simple wreath...made from a metal vent cover and a sweet little button ornament I received many years ago from my sister-in-law Heidi.  Very special...

So how about you?  Are you a "fusser" too?

Well, I think I'll move on to my centerpiece now...see you in a couple days ;)

Springy Angels...

Chipping with Charm: Spring Angels...http://chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

I originally posted these Springy Angels on Junk Market Style back in 2009.  I recently came across a few more of these big springs and made some more...

Here's what you need...
A bigger spring that it wide on both ends, a ball ornament...

...a little super glue to hold the "hook thingy" in place and something to dangle inside.  This time I used little crystal like stars on ornament hooks.

Originally I made these "Hope" charms with keys and scrabble letters.  Much cuter but more time consuming.  You decide...the sky's the limit :)

The wings...
I folded sheet music in half and traced my hand.

Opened it up and attached it to black cardstock.

Then I tied it to the back with skinny twine "like so".

And there you have it...all lined up and ready for their new homes.

"Cheese"

Don't you just "love" it when you can see yourself in the reflection...not really.  But at least I'm not in my jammies in this one ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

Turning "Attitude to Gratitude"

"Turning Attitude to Gratitude" has been the theme at our house all month long.  My son even gave up his Wii for the month, since (for him) that seems to aid in the "attitude" department.  Who knew he could "live" without it???  Haha!

Looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow :)

The kiddos have been off school all week and I can't wait to have my sweet husband home from Thursday until Monday.  Lot's of family time means you probably won't see much of me until next week.

I am so very grateful for all of you...
Hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday and weekend!

Celebrating with Family...

We're taking a little break from wreath posts today ;)

My aunt recently retired from Tyndale Publishers AND celebrated a birthday.

The Sanders family gathered to celebrate and I had fun "playing" around with the serving table decorations.

You may need to take a moment for your eyes to adjust :)
The rest of the photos are from the event...and a BIG change in lighting...

Her friends at Tyndale made these fun magazine covers with photos of Aunt Mavis for her "red carpet" retirement celebration.  We borrowed them :)

Play...

Rest...

And most of all ENJOY!

We love you Aunt Mavis...thanks for letting us celebrate YOU!
May God bless you richly as you enter this new and exciting time in your life.  You are such a blessing to all of us and a bright, shining light for God and His love and faithfulness.  Thank you!!!

Love and prayers,

Cheers-y Wreath

Sooo...are you up for another wreath post???

Hope so :)

Here are my supplies...yes, more bakeware :)

Disclaimer...no I did not drink all the wine to have this many corks.  I have some sweet friends and family who save them for me too :)

First I had holes drilled for some twine for hanging...

Next I grabbed my glue gun and started glue-ing.  I learned after the first one to line up your corks first to insure a proper fit :)

Use a magnet to embellish or add a photo...

And there you go!

(To my "cork saving friends" I mentioned above...better drink more wine, I'm out of corks ;)

And a big "CHEERS" to you my very charming followers...I just hit 400 of you wonderful friends.  Thanks so much for playing along with me and my sometimes crazy ideas.  Your sweet comments mean the world!!!  Many, many thanks...you're the best!

Another "Sweet" Wreath...

When I saw this jello mold at the thrift store I couldn't resist making another sweet little wreath.
(Sorry about the dark pictures...this corner is bad for lighting...I am actually snapping these photos with a lamp in my hand.  It "kinda" worked...hehe)

You might remember the one I made with the paper rosettes last spring.  You can find it HERE.
(Much better lighting in this spot...no lamp needed ;)

I was actually planning to take this wreath to sell at Drawers of Davlee this weekend...but when I hung it on this grate to take a picture to show you all, I liked it so much I decided I should keep it for a while...

I need another wreath like I need a hole in my head :)
In fact, you may know I have a little wreath "obsession"...I'm thinking about doing a post with all the wreaths I've made over the year.  What do you think?

Christmas in a Canister???

Yes, I'm thinking Christmas...between the centerpieces I did last weekend at church and making goodies to sell at the shops, I'm in the "Spirit" :)

I found these class canisters at the thrift store...

I was drawn to their metal lids.

I decided to lay them on their sides and give them a little Christmas cheer...fake snow and some sheet music.

A little more embellishment...and done.

Of course Jingle Bells needed some jingle bells :)
I think these would be cute tucked in on shelves here and there...kind of like a sign in a bottle.

I also found this one with a cork lid...which inspired some more "cheer".

So how about you?  Are you starting to get into the spirit???  Or are you holding out?
