Chippy Sconce Repurpose...

I've had these perfectly chippy cream sconces for a while now...

I cleaned the wires out and they've been holding candles like this...and frankly I was bored with the candle.  I never really lit them anyway because they didn't really feel very safe.
So what I came up with was this...as easy as...

One...

Two...

Three.

Here they are all hanging together...I love how they are all similar, but different.  We used sheet-rock screws to old them in place.  As you know, those glass insulators are pretty heavy.

Ahhh...much better, don't you think?

JUNKIN' MINDS THINK ALIKE...but different...

Remember this...

My Chippy Welcome post...where I made a LIGHT CAGE for my entry way out of a PLANTER BASKET?  Well check this out...

My junk loving friend Tammy over at JunkSituation made a PLANTER BASKET out of a LIGHT CAGE.  How fun is that?

Don't you love how "junkin minds" think alike...but different ;)
Thanks again Tammy for letting me share this...remember to stop over and visit Tammy's blog...JunkSituation.

Old Screen Office Photo Wall...

It started last summer when I found this fun metal newspaper thingy...when I bought it I "assumed" it was magnetic and decided it would make a great memo board in my guestroom/office.

It's the "Church Page"...fun huh?  Yes, fun but not magnetic...

Enter big huge metal screen...that'll do the trick :)

I love pictures but in my "quest" to simplify...I am tired of little frames all over the place.  So this works perfect for me.

Special letters and memories too.

I'm trying to get organized in other areas too...this rusty clippy thing with numbers (another technical term) does the trick for business cards.

This old lumber yard apron contains the headphones and...well nothing else yet, but I have another pocket :)

This little room has accidently developed a bit of a "Screen Theme"...have I shown you this "frame" over the bed?

And you might remember the window treatment from my "Treats" for my windows post way back when.  Hopefully it's not too much...we'll wait and see what Mr. CwC thinks...he'll be sure to let me know ;)

Have a great week...the weather is finally looking up here in MN!

"Hinge-on" to a Really Simple Idea...re-visited

So I wanted to join in on the old hardware fun over at Funky Junk Interiors for Sat. Nite Special.  But when I tried to link my older hinge frame idea, it was all mixed up and wouldn't let me add the link...so I decided to repost it...
(It was one of my very first blog posts and I'm pretty sure it was "operator error" but I have no idea how to fix it...so hope you enjoy it...again, hehe)

So I've been doing some more sorting...this time it's the garage...yikes! I came across my rather large collection of rusty, crusty wonderful hinges. I realized how much I really love them just on their own and wanted to come up something I could do to really feature the ones that were really "speaking to me"...you get that right??? So anyway...here's what I came up with. It's so simple that I'm quite sure I'm not the first to think of it, but it was new to me so I decided to share it...

Positioned this way, it can stand alone...

Just add a picture with a magnet and "ta da"!
I opted for a plain old magnet because I like the look with the picture...but get out your Gorilla Super Glue and go nuts with your button and vintage "bling" collections if you'd prefer...

Positioned this way it can lean against something and really show off it's layers of chippy goodness...

Great little junky touch to tuck in here and there and all over the place...

See you over at Funky Junk Interiors!

What I've been up too...

Well hello friends...have you missed me??? Well, I've missed you...

I feel like I haven't posted for a while. I guess that's because I haven't...so I decided to share a few random things with the promise of more projects soon. :)

First of all we've been doing some painting...and I've been doing some "simplifying" which as a collector is a tough thing.  But frankly I'm just plain tired of the clutter and the dusting.

I found a this amazing color through a friend...she painted her living room the color to the left of my heart...Family Tree, it's a Lucite color.  I was also attracted to the lighter tone, Colonial Cobblestone.  We used it to paint our bedroom in December...and   I immediately informed my husband "I want to LIVE in this color".  It's the perfect warm tone grey...or as some call it "greige".  So we just recently painted our entire main level this lovely color...I promise to post pictures when we get the last few projects done.

Check out what I got for mother's day...jealous?  Haha :)  Well, I loved it and I should since I picked it out.  I found it at Second Hand Rose.  My friend laughed at me but I didn't care...and infact, I think I "need" another one for the other side of that house up there...guess what my hubby's getting for Father's Day ;)

And look what else I got...

Aren't I spoiled?  Really I am...my sweet hubby always gives me $$$ to pick out my own gifts.  Gift buying really stresses him out and I LOVE to shop...so I guess it's a "win/win".  And now I look forward to a little splurge here and there :)

I found this little feedsack covered ottoman at Juxtaposition 99.  Love, love, love...it has the perfect little "imperfections" here and there.  Well, actually every where :)
My husband said "so it's supposed to look like that?"  Yes honey...those imperfections add charm, don't you think?

So that's a bit of what I've been up to...that and preparing for Drawers of Davlee...which was open this weekend.  So now I think I have a little breather to hopefully get my house back in order and finish up those last few projects...so I can show you my new "clutter-less", ok maybe more like "less-cluttered"  living room.

Have a great weekend friends!
