Old Crate Planters

Thanks for your kind comments on my HEADBOARD PATIO FENCE.  Here's something else I don't think you've seen.  Our old crate planters...

We got these divided crates at the Country Junk Sale at least 5 years ago now...

My very handy hubby welded up these bases for them.

We decided it would be best to use pots...so the wood wouldn't rot out as fast.  I filled in the bottoms with recycled plastic grocery bags and topped it off with mulch.

Love the writing on the boxes!!

The bottoms are looking a little "droopy"...getting "old" is tough ;)
They may just need a little "tuck" here and there...add that to "the list" too.

I talked my husband into making a couple smaller versions for the JUNKMARKET UNDER GLASS MARCH SHOW.  I think they both sold before lunch the first day...better find some more crates :)

These "lovelies" are "out back" on the deck.  I'm still "fluffing and flowering" out there.  There seems to be a lot more "maintenance" this year...and I am NOT good at maintenance!!  My husband is more of the "Maintenance Man".  I tend to get out there with good intentions and then I get distracted moving stuff around...or following him around going on about what I want to do "next"!!  Oh well, I guess you need both...we make a good team.  I keep him plenty busy...and he tries to keep me focused :)

Have a great week!

  2. These are fantastic. They go so well with the coloring of your deck. Smart idea to use pots to protect the wood. You want these to last a long time.

  3. Those make great planters. My husband likes to weld too. In fact, he thinks the best things that I ever found while out yard saling was an arc welder. So he gets all excited when I "need" to have something welded. I'm more of a duct tape person myself.

  16. Have you ever considered about including a little
bit more than just your articles? I mean, what
you say is valuable and all. Nevertheless just imagine if you added some great photos
or video clips to give your posts more, "pop"! Your content is
excellent but with pics and clips, this blog could definitely be one of
the best in its field. Awesome blog!

  20. I've never seen planters as amazing as these. My husband welds, hmm. All I need to do now is locate some crates—or even some pallets with stencils. I appreciate you sharing.
