SERIOUSLY Simple Winter Mantel 2015...a fresh start...

Chipping with Charm: Simple Winter Mantel...http://chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/
If you have been hanging with me here for a while...you might already know that I don't do "simple" well.

I've been working on simplifying for years now.  It starts about now.  Sorting, organizing, tossing, donating, selling.  Only to start collecting and "stashing" treasures to be sorted again next year.
Truly, I can't stop collecting.  I need to have cool finds and things to re-purpose to sell in our booth at Antiques Downtown.
I just know I need to be selective about what takes up "space" at my house.

That said, my mantel this winter is made up of "tried and trues".

My garage sale canvases turned chalkboards.

My kitchen drawer turned chalkboard shelf.

It lost its spot in the recent "kitchen redo".
I haven't had the heart to sell it...yet.

Of course there are a few aqua vintage canning jars.

And the chippy arrow I bought from a favorite booth at the Junk Bonanza kept it's spot too.

I didn't realize how similar this mantel is to my winter mantel from last year until after I took these pictures to post...

Similar, but different :)
And if you think I'm exaggerating that this is "Seriously Simple" for me...

Did you see my Christmas Mantel for 2014?

Don't let this "sweet sunshine" peeking through the windows fool you.  It's -2 degrees here in Minnesota today.

But actually this this corner of my house feels warm and cozy right now...

It's 71 degrees in my "Happy Place" at the moment.
(I received this perfectly chippy sign from my sister...love it!)

This little truck is hauling the only "Valentine" decoration at my house...so far.

So how about you?
Are you enjoying some "simple pleasures" after the busyness of the Holidays?
Or are you jumping right into the next "thing"?
Either way...ENJOY!!

  2. Looks great, Laurel, and I love that Happy Place sign. I was enjoying the simple pleasure of cleaning up Christmas, that is, until I unloaded my car of 4 boxes of Christmas 'stuff' from the antique mall booth spaces. Ugh....I hate bringing those boxes into the house, as I really want to keep my organization where it was last summer when I overhauled my space.....so I guess I've already started into the 2015 'thing'. {sigh}

  3. I love your Happy Place sign and the truck with the cable heart! All of it looks cozy and wintery, which is my goal. I put away the Christmas and left the winter....for awhile.
