Getting into the Christmas Spirit...Centerpieces

I know, it's a little early for a Christmas centerpiece...

...but my church does a Women's Ministry Christmas event...called "Redeeming the Season".  (The idea was based on the book from Focus on the Family...you can find it HERE)  It focuses on "Simple ideas for making a memorable and meaningful Christmas".  And we have the event early so you can start out in the right direction :)

And by now you might know I'm the "Centerpiece Girl" for the Women's Minitry team...so I thought I'd show you what I did this time...kind of a "Winter Wonderland" theme.  Not really a very "Spiritual" theme...but God made snow right? ;)

In addition to a speaker, good food and an ornament exchange, there is always a "project".  This year my friend Joan showed everyone how to make these table runners...think Silhouette template, Sharpie and a star stamp.  Easy and really cute...

A scarf wrapped cylindar, battery operated twinkle lights, fresh greens, rusty springs and a shiny star.

I only had 2 of the matching red thrift store scarves...so the other 3 tables got these yarn wrapped cylindars.

The "podium"...

Real miniature trees...and fun filled rubber boots.  Red...

...and green.  I went the "traditional" route this time...if you call green filled rubber boots traditional :)

Well, now that I'm in the Cristmas mood...don't be surprised if I have my house decorated by Thanksgiving...I'm on a roll now!!!

Thanks for stopping by...
and since most of the items I used were "thrifted", I think I join in the fun over at Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tues.

Trunk or Treat...Candy Land style...

Hope everyone had a happy Halloween :)
We had fun passing out candy at the annual "Trunk or Treat" at our church.  Here are a few pictures of our "Candy Land" trunk...

I got the inspiration for the XXL suckers from a picture I found on Pinterest.  I showed my husband the picture and this is what he came up with.  I wish I would have had more fluffy white "frosting" to cover up those lovely bases.  Oh well, next year :)

I had fun gathering and making the giant candy pieces.

My little "Obi-Wan" thought it was pretty cool :)

My sweet hubby and I "chilled"...literally...at the car greeting the little trunk or treaters.  (FYI, he has really nice hazel eyes...you'll just have imagine them...since this is the only photo I have of us last night...hehe)  We gave out so much candy that I actually had to pull the lolly pops from my pig-tails.  Great turn-out...fun night :)

Hope every one had a great Halloween!

One more Halloween Project???

Hope you don't mind if I squeeze in one more Halloween project...

I found this wooden thingy at the thrift store and it's shape looked a little too familiar...I couldn't resist painting it up.  First some black primer and then a couple coats of chalkboard paint...

My kids will have fun changing this face...at least 100 times tomorrow for sure :)

I added the little tag with the leaf for fun.  Treats anyone???

And check out this old photo...

"I didn't eat those Ho Ho's...really I didn't".  Isn't she sweet with the evidence all over her face :)  Love it!

Hope everyone has a Happy Halloween...we're still preparing our Candy Land decorations for Trunk or Treat at our church tomorrow night.  Did you see the Life Savers I posted yesterday?  If not, you can see them HERE.  Like I said, I'm having a little too much fun with all this...I'll show you pictures when I'm done :)

Another "Sweet" Idea...Trunk or Treat Life Savers :)

We volunteered to decorate our trunk for "Trunk or Treat" at our church on Halloween.  We decided on a "Candy Land" theme...and here's a fun little idea I couldn't wait to share...

First I took jello molds and added foam stickers...
(I noticed afterward that the real candies say "Life Savers"...ooops!  Too late now, don't tell the kids :)

Sprayed them with primer...

Some of the letters were popping up so I glued them down.  Do this before spraying the color on.  I learned this the hard way with the orange "candies".

Spray with fun glossy colors and ta da :)

Like I said, I made these for our Trunk or Treat display...but they look kinda cute in my kitchen too.

What do you think?

Well, lots more to do...I'll take pictures on Halloween when it's all set up and ready for the kiddos. I think I'm having a little too much fun with this :)

REALLY Simple Fall Wreaths...

So this little wreath idea is so very simple that I hesitated to even post it...but then I remembered ALL of my ideas are pretty easy, so what the heck, I'll share it anyway :)

I found these empty round frames at the thrift store the other day.  Just removed the hardware on the back...

...wrapped it in this fun burlap-y ribbon and tucked in a few leaves cut from old book pages.

Doesn't get any easier than that :)

Here they are in their new home in my sitting room.

Happy Sunday everyone...take it easy today :)

"Centering" on Friends...

Hello friends...sorry I've been out of the loop this week.  I've been busy catching up at home after a little getaway with my high school girlfriends over the weekend.  So fun to hang out as grownups and laugh about life 20 years ago :)

I also had the fun "job" of coming up with centerpieces for the annual Dessert Night for the women at my church last night.  The talk was on developing Godly friendships.  Here's a little "peek" at what I came up with...

And of course I forgot my camera at home so I'm showing you shots of the "practice round" on my kitchen table :)

Tarnished coffee pots...

Stacks of old books...bought at the Goodwill in the .15 cent bin.  Love the title page on this one "Precious in His Sight".

And old "girlfriend" photos tucked in here and there :)

And some "fall" in the form of real pumpkins and leaves cut from book pages.

There you have it...pretty simple.  But I am finding that the less is more when it comes to this kind of thing.  No fun hauling all those bins in and out, out and in.

And while I was "practicing" on one table at my house...my "littlest charmer" was using the other pieces to arrange a little centerpiece of her own.  Like mother like daughter :)

Thanks for stopping by and for all of your sweet comments.  They truly make my day!!!

My weekend starts tomorrow because of MEA...teacher work shops.  No school for the kiddos until Monday.  So have a great weekend :)

My Country Junk Finds...

I promised a peek at the "Country Junk" that came home with me last weekend...so here goes :)  I do have to say I could have bought tons more!  So many cool things...and great prices too.  It was really hard not to be a big ol' "junk pig"...

LOVE this red "Perma Seal" shelf and the big tea box with numbers AND words :)

This was by far my largest purchase.  It was a coat rack from a kindergarden...too cute.  But I have many other ideas for this piece...one being...on my patio for a party draped with hanging jars for fresh flowers and candles.  Can you picture it?

Had to have this little gray trunk.  I (heart) anything gray.

Can't resist a big chippy old mirror.

I thought long and hard about these industrial metal material holders.  In the end...they came home with me.  My husband is going to help me turn this taller one into a little wine station.  Of course I'll show you pictures when it's ready for the "reveal".

And with the addition of a pillow...this one is already serving a new purpose as a cute little bench.

So what do YOU think?
I'm very happy with my new "junk" :)
Did you find anything fun this weekend?
