If you follow me on INSTAGRAM or FACEBOOK...you've probably already seen my "Junky Farmstyle" hook rack. That is a style isn't it? ;)
It all started with the cow hook rack I found at a garage sale. Not my "usual" style but for some reason I was drawn to "her".
We are now calling her "Ione"...and she's allergic to penicillin.
"Silky" is lovingly represented too.
Add a church pew rack and a Wisconsin "America's Dairyland" license plate.
Farmstyle meet Junk Style.
Now most people would probably hang it in their kitchen for cookbooks, towels or aprons...like this.
But it happened to be the perfect size fr the lonely spot over my stairway...just off of our ENTRY and KITCHEN.
And since hanging this piece was a bit of a "risk" for my husband...I think she will stay here for a while.
This would be a great place for a fun light fixture. I decided to fake it with this "church-like" bird cage.

See my little paper bird in there?
I also added a STRIKE PLATE CROSS for fun.
So what do you think? Are Junk and Farmstyle a happy match?
Do you mix styles in your home?
Chat soon,
I think they are a great match, Laurel. I love the IONE sign....makes me smile. And a Wisconsin license plate. My son has a collection of sorts of WI plates--some of ours, some of his, some of his grampa's. So much fun to have those little things that make us smile. I hung a picture once up over a stairwell like that and when I left I gifted it to the new owner. We were there about a year ago (sold it 12 years ago) and that picture is still hanging there. lol Too risky to move it! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteBrave husband, we have a tough to reach stairwell space too and even changing the light bulb is a major and scary undertaking. Love your layers, the cow and the IONE sign is so unique.
ReplyDeleteI love this, Laurel! The cow is fabulous and goes very well with your other junk finds. You found the perfect place for that piece. It looks great there!
ReplyDeleteI think it is all one style and I love your art work. I'm near the Wisconsin boarder and lived there for 20 years so this really speaks of home to me. That's what art is all about, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI love Ione and she would have come home with me too. Your husband is braver than me. I would have had to hang it in the kitchen or hall!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy seeing your ideas. Love the cow
