Great Day for a Garden Party...Birthday

We held on to summer here for 1 more weekend.

My littlest charmer has a late August birthday and she wanted a "Garden Party".  Since the end of summer fills up with last minute getaways and end of summer projects we decided to wait until after school started.

The girls had fun decorating party hats...

I found a couple of tutorials on Pinterest...check them out HERE and HERE.  And of course "tweaked" them a bit to fit our style/party theme.

They ate "buggy" food...

...off of "flower-like" place settings.

Even the utensils came in a little bouquets :)

And of course a little "dirt" pudding for dessert.

Not much "junk" at this party...but I did use layers of vintage tablecloths.  Also, blue jars and rubber boots for vases.

Even a few butterflies flying in the chandelier.

And of course the "parting gifts"...in buckets.

I think a good time was had by all :)

Sorry, I didn't feel I should post pictures of their lovely little faces...so you get the "buggy" faces...also quite cute :)

OK, now on to FALL...my FAVORITE!

PS...Thanks so very much for your sweet thoughts and prayers for my dad.  He is STILL in the hospital and we continue to  pray for comfort and healing as well as strength and patience for my mom.

Thanks for your patience with me here.  I know my posts lately have been random and few.  I hope to be back to creating soon!!

Blessings,

A Birthday "Tea" Party :)

Our littlest "charmer" turned 5 yesterday :)

So we decided to host a "Tea Party" on the patio to celebrate.

We brought a little table and chairs outside.  Layered up the linens and added "chair covers"...green...

...and pink.

I've been collecting these sweet vintage linens since before she was born.

"Real flowers"...of course ;)

We added place cards on old hinges...

...and invited a friend.

On the Menu...
1.  Vanilla Yogurt and Strawberry Parfaits...with sprinkles.

2.  Peanut Butter and Honey Sandwiches...cut with little flower cookie cutters.

3.  Brownie Bites with Frosting...and more sprinkles.

And instead of real tea, we had what we called "Pink-a-ccinos"
(steamed milk with strawberry syrup and pink whipped topping)
As you can see by that face...they were a hit :)

Thanks for the visit, have a great day!!

40 Years of Wedded Bliss...

My 3 sisters and I were pleased to plan an Open House for my parents to honor their 40th wedding anniversary this past weekend.  We were working on a fairly tight budget so we had to get creative with the decor.  I'd say our theme was "Simply Special".  Love you Mom and Dad!

40 years ago my parents had a church reception, serving cake, coffee, punch and good ol' peanuts and pillow mints.  So guess what we served???  You got it :)

To add interest to the tables, instead of linens we had 11X17 and 8X10 photo copies made from their wedding photos and spread them out "hap-hazzardly" around...

My mom's favorite flower has always been Alstroemeria...and as kids she told us we could remember the name by thinking "I'll Still Marry Ya"...so it seemed fitting that they should be our flower for the day.

And of course there were a few pictures here...

And there...

This is a picture of me and my 3 sisters...my fellow party planners.  (Left to Right...Sarah, Anna, myself and Becky)
See that amazing view behind us?  Our party was on the 35th floor of a high rise downtown Minneapolis.  Sadly, we didn't spend too much time out there...it was about "a million degrees" that day.  Even more sad, I didn't get a single picture of the "happy couple"!  We all too busy socializing I guess...lots of old friends and family came to celebrate.
