So I went to the flea market last weekend...and it was a VERY good day :)
One of my favorite finds was this "wheely thing". Fun huh?
So my first thought were these 8 skinny glass vases...all in a row...
And I didn't have any real flowers handy so I decided to use these shoe strecher flowers like I've showed you before HERE.
Then I added these old rusty drill bits for fun. But I didn't like those crusty flowers peeking in through the window behind...so I decided to "very carefully" move this photo shoot to another location. And because I was too plain lazy to move the vases first and then come back for the wheely part later...here's where the "bad decision" part comes...
And as you can see that did NOT end well.
As they say "live and learn"...now I just have to think of another way to use my new find. Any ideas???

Chat soon,
Hi Laurel-
ReplyDeleteIt happens to all of us. It did look nice. The wheelie thing is unique that is for sure. I am sure you will come up with something super clever to use it for.
My best- Diane
Oh, no! Cute little wheely thing. Have no idea what it is supposed to be (besides a breakable glass vase holder), but I would have bought it.
ReplyDeleteWheely things to have that rolling thing going on for them. It's cute though!
ReplyDeleteA book stand? I was going to say dishes, but then decided that wasn't such a great idea!

Dang it! You didn't say any naughty words did you? How about putting non-breakable peat pots on that cute wheelie thing. Knowing your talent, you'll think outside the box and make something wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh man Laurel!!!! That is so something I would do... I'm sorry you broke them, that was an awesome idea. I love that "wheely thing". How about if you just go get more glasses like that because they were perfect.
ReplyDeleteIf not, how about if you use it to hold a picture..? or a sign? just set it in the groove and lean it against the wall....
xo Susan
Oh too bad...such an awesome piece, I was thinking photo display, too!
ReplyDeleteOops...
ReplyDeletewhich flea market did you go to???
I like Linda's idea for photos :)
Warmly,
deb
If you're like me you were probably more bummed that you had to clean it up than at losing the glass. I break things a lot so am never attached to my fragiles. I'm sorry you had that mess! I do like your wheels!
ReplyDeleteuse the small votives they aren't top heavy.
ReplyDeleteOh darn--that is SO something I would do! I think this is a fabulous piece and I love the thought of some shorter votives lined up on it. Great find!
ReplyDeleteoops! but still, that wheely thing is so cool!!
ReplyDeleteOUCH!!! But I know that you'll come up with something equally cool. What a fun piece!

Oh darn it Laural! that was an awesome display you had going. I can kinda imagine a bunch of old vintage and rusty doorknobs on there with wire holders in them holding black and white photos or some of your flowers you make. Oh there I go I love to create and display too!! LOL Hope that might help to get your mojo going! LOL Take care, XO Fran.
ReplyDeleteI love the wheely thing! It would lokk nice with a row of voltive candles on it. you could use it on the dinningroom table.
ReplyDeleteMaybe metal on metal - like tarnished creamers, small jugs. Great piece of wheels/metal.
ReplyDeleteThat is something that I would do too! I knocked over a bunch of storage jars when I was cleaning up my studio space and had glass all over my floor.
ReplyDeleteI love the wheely thing you found, it's an awesome piece. I read the ideas from the comments above and I thing they are good ones. Let us know what you decide.

Hi...I just found this post. OK..your idea was a great one! Why not just do it again! Get more glasses but glue them in place OR stabilize the wheels so they don't roll. OR get acrylic glasses this time :-) I like the little wheely thing too :-)
ReplyDeleteOh nooo, I am horrible with glass, always breaking it. Cool wheelie thingy though, good for a picture holder (with no glass in the frame).
ReplyDeletemixing glass drinks and wheely things, not good. Oh, so sorry, it looked great! Lezlee
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me of the time I lined up a bunch of tall wooden spools on my windowsill...no sooner did I have them all lined up in a neat row...crash! My cat jumped up on the sill the down came all the spools! lol Fortunately they were unbreakable.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!
Hilarious! Haven't we ALL been there! The 30 seconds it would take to work smart always loses out to working fast! Sometimes it works...sometimes not!! Marie
ReplyDeleteI remember one time I opened up the refrigerator and put one of the glass containers in a bad spot. It fall on the ground and glass got everywhere. My mom was not happy about this at all. Everyone makes mistakes but accidents like this somethings really brother people. It happens though. We clean up and get over it.
