A Little Peek...

Well, I've been busy...getting a few things ready for the upcoming Flea Market Under Glass event next week.  I was just there today dropping off goodies and let me tell you it's gonna be a great show!  Such a wonderful location and talented group of vendors and of course Sue Whitney of Junk Market Style herself.  Believe me, you don't want to miss this!!!

So anyway, I thought I'd give you a quick peek at what I've been working on...

Do you see a theme here???  I didn't think I could fill a booth by myself so Sue asked me to help her out with a few "smalls" for her area.  I've been focusing on projects using paper and flowers...fun huh?  I know...lucky me :)

Like I said...just a "Little Peek"...but I'll be sure to post more details, after the show...now, I'd better get back to work :)

So...what are you working on???

A "Cush" Job...

These old cork jar tops like their new "cushy" job as pretty little pin cushions.

They served their practical purpose for many years.

The cork lids, a few little vintage plates, some strong glue and assorted little sewing goodies...

...all come together to make this "pin cushion".

If I was "sew-er", I'm sure this would work slick as "intended"...I'm not...but soon, I hope :)

Until then I'll use it on my dresser to display vintage pins and such.
I think they'll enjoy their new "cushy" job sitting around "looking pretty"...don't you?

A Chippy Welcome...

Our light fixure by the front door has always been a dilema...low ceilings mean no fun/fancy light fixture. When I saw this rusty, crusty basket at a local Occasional Sale...I knew just what I would do with it.

A basic light fixture, with S hooks spray painted to match hold the basket just so...

Perfectly crusty...

A "hap-hazzard" collection of crytals and keys add a little "something"...

I found out later that this treaure of a chippy flower basket originally belonged to my friend Lani of Cottage Elements.  Thanks Lani...

This was another idea origially posted on Junk Market Style...and it even earned a "mention" in the "Best of 2009" posts :)

I'll be linking this up over at FJI, Saturday Nite Special...does this count as a "chandelier"???

"Imitation is the Highest Form of Flattery"..."copy cat" junky storage...

"Imitation is the highest form of flattery"...as the oldest of 4 girls that's the quote my mom used to use whenever I started to get upset when one of my sisters would "copy" me.  And I actually grew to believe it.  Looks like the ladies over at Funky Junk Interiors and Miss Mustard Seed think so too.  Can't wait to "join in on the fun"  with their Copy Me Challenge.
So here goes...

Chipping with Charm: "Copy Cat" Junky Storage...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

Can you guess who I'm going to start with?  Is that Coca Cola crate any indication???  Thought so...I'm kind of a "junk girl" myself, so it wasn't hard to find a few things right out in the garage.

Do you remember a while back when I told you how inspired I was by Donna's Blogging Office garage storage shelves?  I wrote a post about how it inspired me to place a shelving unit I already had right smack infront of my windows...see photo below and you can see that post HERE

Well, it didn't only inspire me but my sweet hubby too.  Usually I show my husband one of the inspiring posts from Blogland...he shuts down and I can literally see the stars in his eyes...but his mouth says "Yes, honey...that's cool honey"  Only to completely erase it from his memory the next time I ask him about it.  Been there???
Not so with those storage racks.  Infact he called me from Home Depot a few days later and told me they had a bunch marked down to $7 each...and being the "conservative" shopper that I am, I said "Buy them all!" I recently put some of them to use and in light of the challange tried to "gussy" them up Funky Junk style...

These 2 are in our family room...I kept them the natural pine because I liked how they contrasted with the "Sheet Metal" gray walls and coordinated with the pine ceilings.  Then I tried to fill them with some junky goodies that would make Donna proud :)

"Mason" jars for candles...

I added a license plate to this old box for fun...

Another old box with wording...

Old tool boxes galore for storage...I love the gray with red peeking through on this one.

This bowling pin angel might be more "Chipping with Charm" than "Funky Junk" but I wanted to show you anyway.

So what do ya think?  Did I do OK???

Before you go, check out this quote...I found it over at Rosemary's beautiful blog, The Summer Porch and I LOVE it...the quote and the blog ;)

Now "hop" on over and check out all the other Funky Junk Copy Cats ok?

Whoo-hoo...this post made it to the "Top 5"...check it out HERE :)

Re-visiting this post to link up with Amy at Whisperwood Cottage for her Authentic Style Series featuring Donna and her funky and fabulous style...see you there!

And since these shelves were a "steal" at only $7 a piece, I'm going to link up to the Under $100 Link Party at Beyond the Picket Fence :)

"Springy" Flowers

So I've been dreaming of Spring...but here in MN, we've been forced to wait. So I started playing, hoping that these cute little springy flowers will tide me over...at least for today. We'll get through tomorrow, tomorrow...

So I started out with these...what are they anyway? I've heard yolk separator and also minnow catchers. Hmmm, pretty sure I won't be using them for my eggs...just in case...

I actually liked them just like this, in a vase...but I've been seeing so many cute ideas out there in Blog land for paper flowers and decided to come up with my own version, so here goes...

You could use any kind of paper for these...scrapbooking scraps, magazine pages...whatever suits you. The options are endless really. But I decided to stick with the book pages and sheet music, since I'm going pretty neutral these days.

I used these little pre-cut craft store flowers for a tracing template since I had them on hand...but the designs are pretty simple, I'm sure you could freehand it or cookie cutters would work great too.

Ready to go...

Then I just tucked a couple into each springy thingy...easy, easy!
I kind of moved them around until I found a good tight fit but a little glue dot would probably hold them in place even better.

And there they are...I think I need one more, just because...and I'm guessing I have one stashed somewhere??? Hmmm, should I check with the utensils or the fishing gear???

Either way, I'll be ready when I find one :)

Cozy in their new home...and in case you are wondering...yes, I have a thing for making flowers out of odd objects...Shoe Stretchers, forks whatever...as long as they don't need water.

Happy Wednesday!

I'll be linking this up to...

PS...this post was an iJunk Spotlight over at Junkologie...whoo-hoo, Thanks Amy!  Stop over and say hi :)
