A Few Centerpieces...

So I saw the theme for Donna's Funky Junk SNS and I thought, bummer because right now my centerpiece is a painting drop cloth...I am right smack in the middle of about 15 things.  And then I saw my sweet friend http://priorlives.blogspot.com/2011/01/centerpiece-party-at-funky-junk.html and thought..."she's so smart" why didn't I think of that???  So here goes...

Over the past year I've done quite a few centerpieces for functions at our church.  I have joking-ly even referred to it as a "Centerpiece Ministry"...but really I can't carry a tune and I'm not much of a "teacher" but centerpieces I enjoy :)

Here are some I did for our MOPS group at church...their theme this year is "Momology"...hence the text books, pencil flowers and coffee cups :)

And our fall Women's Ministry Event...

The "Redeeming the Season" Christmas Event...this year...

...and last year.
So there you have it...thanks for the idea, and inspiration Lezlee!
And thanks for the party Donna :)
So now I'll be linking up over at...

Thanks for stopping by! Now I'd better go get ready for church ;)

Drawers Full...

Since everyone is into organizing and "creative storage" this time of year...I decided to share pictures of how we store our DVD's.

Just add a couple of shelves and make a nice arrangement on your wall and "Ta-Da" :)

Of course I added a few little "junky details" for fun.
Chick Flick anyone???

"Picture Perfect" Books

As I was peeking through boxes and bins I came across a bunch of picture frame parts and pieces. A while back I had taken apart a bunch of frames for a decorating project and in true "junker" fashion...I kept all the glass and cardboard backs...because well, "you just never know". I also found a couple boxes full of old books...I can't resist them. So this idea combines 2 of my favorite things...books and photos...

I knew I saved these for a reason :)

I removed the front and back cover of the book and then folded the pages back to a full page of words. The pictures are only attached by the black photo corners and can easily be switched out. The glass is held in place by black "ponytail" holders...who knew that'd come in handy for something other than a "bad hair day"...

(By the way...I don't actually know this "happy couple", but they make me smile)

This book is even called "Picture Perfect"...Imagine that...

I've already read this book, but if you haven't you still can...all the pages are still there...

The back is held in place by those same handy bands...

For this style I used an old Readers Digest Book. I've collected an assortment of interesting patterns over the years...

PS...I didn't just have a baby...my "baby" turned 3 in August, but I love this picture. It's our first "family photo"...

Same "ponies" hold the glass and a little added embellishment...just because...

If I would have done this one with the binding up, pages down it would have stood alone nicely. On this particular book I liked the pattern but wasn't thrilled about the titles so this metal bookend does the trick...

I do actually know this handsome guy...he's my Grandfather...

My Grandfather was a minister so this book of the New Testament was the perfect fit for this special picture.

(This was another of my projects previously posted on JunkMarket Style.)

A "Charming" Little Giveaway

Well I made it...just over 100 CHARMING followers!  Yippee :)

I know that doesn't sound like much to those of you that have "hundred's and thousand's" of followers but I am "pleased as punch" that 100 people actually care what I'm up to in this little life of mine.  So to say thank you I decided to do a little giveaway...

When I was trying to decide what to offer up...I went back and forth.  I wanted something cute and kind of clever.  Should it be some thing "safe" that everyone would want?  Or should I go with something a little more "unexpected"..."one of a kind", that will really showcase my style and what I like to do???

Well, I guess you can tell by my pictures that I went with the "latter"...hehe :)

I have no idea what this piece of hardware was originally...but she is living her new life as a "junky" little shoe.  I hope you like her and want this little treasure to come to your house.  If so, here's what you should do...

1.  Are you a follower? (If not, I would LOVE it if you would.)  Either way, please leave me a comment and let me know that you would like to be entered in the drawing.
2.  Next, "Like" Chipping with Charm on Facebook and leave me another comment.
3.  Tell your friends!!!  Post a link on your blog and send them over...for this I will enter your name twice, just for fun :)
Then, you guessed it, leave me another comment.

Sign up until 8:00 pm, Central Time on Wednesday January 26th!!!

Thank you all for stopping by to take a peek.  I am so grateful for all the words of encouragement, sweet comments and helpful advice I've received in this fun blogging world.  And by the way...I still have NO idea what I'm doing.  But thanks for coming along for the ride!!!

PS...another newer blogger, Vintage No. 35 is having a giveaway too!  (Ending Friday, Jan. 21st) So if you're feeling lucky stop over and check it out...you'll be glad you did.  Her fun little giveaway inspired me to do mine.  Frankly, I had thought about it was afraid to put myself out there...well, here goes nothin!  Thanks Tricia :)

Late Bloomers...

I'm still kind of a "newbie" to blogging but I've been posting my ideas on JunkMarket Style for a while now. I decided to post a few of my past JunkMarket Style posts...to share with my new blogging friends. And I'm hoping my JMS friends don't mind seeing them again :)

I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds these old shoe stretchers all over the place for cheap. Whenever I see "cheap", I can hardly resist scooping them all up and waiting for an idea to hit me...so after years of stinky shoe stretching and then a few more years of hanging out in a pile in my garage, they get a new life and a new look...

I suppose I could have painted these all one color but I preferred the different colors and their "less than perfect" appearance.

These old shoe stretchers got a new job and a new look...blooming with vintage bobbles...Rusty washers, vintage earrings and buttons...

...old enamel pins, a favorite of mine...all attached with Gorilla Super Glue...

Here they are, just laying there looking pretty...

Also looking lovely on this perfectly crusty grate...

I made enough for a whole junky bouquet...it was a little challenging getting them arranged since they are fairly top heavy...

...but strategically placed sheet music did the trick.

And I recently made a bunch of "white on white" flowers for an event...don't you think these would be fun for a wedding?

OK now...head over to JunkMarket Style and prepare to be inspired!!!

A Wintery Welcome...

So the Christmas trees are packed away...and most of the decorations have disappeared until next year.  But I can't resist leaving some greens and snow out for a little bit longer...
This ice chest is the first thing people see when they come in my front door, so it always gets a little special "sprucing".

I added insulators to the bottom of this vintage tray for a little extra height.

A "chippingly charming" old drawer with jars and candles.

A cloche I made using a glass fixture shade, a wooden canister lid and an old drawer pull.

And here's my favorite part...did you see this lamp base?

I got this cool old light fixture base from a friend for my birthday.  (I love it...thanks Traci!)  My lamp needed a little more height...and it just happened to have a hole in the bottom that fit perfectly over the fixture.  Meant to be???  I think so.

So this is how it looked yesterday...I liked it but that big black lamp shade was bugging me.

So I stopped in to a thrift store today and look what I found.  Lucky me :)

Much better...what do you think?
Don't you love it when things just fall together.  It makes me so happy :)

I'll be linking up to...
